Holding Babies

12/3/2013

Today both Dave and I spent some time early this morning holding our babies. Dave held Alec for the first time and I held Lilah, after changing my first of many poopy diapers. Below is a quick clip of her sucking on her feeding tube while I held her.

For Lilah, they have started her first round of meds to address the heart murmur. They are hoping one or two rounds of meds will do the trick. We should have a better idea how things are going in a few days. She is on IV nutrients while the drugs are in her system.

Alec has done so well with feedings he should be up 100% breast milk by tomorrow. They will stop all the IV nutrients and be adding some calories into the milk in powered form. His bilirubin numbers have finally gone down so he will be off the lights today.

I want to thank you for all the comments of love and support. Dave and I read through them nightly. I'll admit I am usually in tears by the end :) We could not go through this without knowing how many people are there for us and our kids! We love you all,

Katie

So sweet! I can't wait to see them! Jacob Odmann came up to me today and said "Hey, do you know Mrs. Atlas had her twins? Yep, a boy and a girl!" I thanked him for the info and, yes, I had heard!

What great strides they're making! I just read that their ultrasounds were clear. That's fantastic!! We talk about the babies a lot around here. Mallory is very excited to meet them!

Katie today I heard Ella's version of Lilah and Alec's birth. Apparently the babies are very tiny but should be home very soon. They will be home for sure before they are 1!
We are thinking of you all and praying for continued progress. Thank you for sharing this journey.

Hi Dave and Family,
This is Aimee (Jeanine's sister). I just wanted to say my prayers are with you. Our son was born at 29 weeks and weighed 2lbs. He is now three and is doing fantastic. Your pictures bring back many memories some good, some hard. Stay strong!

Hi David and Katie,

The babies are beautiful. I'm sorry I didn't write sooner. We were out of town for Thanksgiving. I am so happy for your whole family and wish you the best over the next couple months. You are already such amazing and strong parents. Keep posting, I love reading about the updates and seeing pictures of the little munchkins. Can't wait for their first trip to Chicago. XOXO
