Six Months

It's had to believe that it has been over six months since the kids were born. There is still not a day that goes by that I don't get teary eyed with how amazing they are.

Alec is over 14lbs. He is in the 50th percentile for his corrected age (they compare the kids in growth and development to what age they would have been based on their due date of February 10th). If he can get over 56 in the next six weeks, they will let us which to a less expensive baby formula and possibly start to introduce solids. He loves to swing his arms around like crazy to get all of the hanging toys to move and make noise. He is also babbling up a storm... We are really enjoying the fun noises he makes.

Lilah is doing well. She is about 12lbs and is in the 25th percentile for her corrected age which is awesome considering all of the spitting up she does. We have been increasing her volume and speed of the pump so between that and her reflux, it's been a little bit of a challenge. Her attitude couldn't be better about it. She is still fussy at times (who wouldn't be? Reflux hurts!) but her smiles even to strangers are become more frequent. She isn't rolling over just yet, but it will be any day now.

A few days ago she was on the play mat and started to pick up her butt with her legs and move closer to a toy she couldn't reach. She's a smart girl! She does not babble like Alec yet, but she does like to put out a quick scream for no reason other then to test out her voice. Those sounds are pretty funny too.

Catching up

Not much is new.

Alec and Lilah both have their sixth month appointments this week. Time flies!

Lilah isn't taking much by mouth theses days although feeding time is still a happy, calm experience which is good. Last night after 15 minutes of trying the bottle, I started up her pump and noticed she was sucking on her tongue like there was a bottle there. I took a chance and put the bottle to her lips and she actually took about 25mL while her pump was going. It was strange, but we'll take it!

The kids

Life has just been pluggin' along. Lilah's feeds have not improved. In fact, the last few days she has started to refuse the bottle at some feedings. I try not to worry, but it does concern me. She has a weight check it the morning and I am pretty sure she will have gained, but will bring up the decline of oral feeding to the doctor.

Alec has been dealing with some tummy trouble. My happy smiley little boy turned into a fussy miserable little boy after a few days of no stools. We've increased his pear juice now that he is back on track and those smiles and coos are back in full force.

Dave and I are doing great. I'm sure some of this is hormones but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't get teary-eyed thinking how amazing these kids are and how blessed we have been.

I've been competing with her hand when trying to feed her. She would rather suck on fingers then the bottle.

Peek-a-boo with Alec. He is actually just grabbing the blanket and lifting it up and bringing it back down, but it might as well be peek-a-boo :)

Bummer!

I was so disappointed to hop on to my blogging app tonight to find out the last post I wrote never posted! What a bummer! So that first post tonight was actually from a few days ago. Sorry about that.

Yesterday and today Lilah has been in the 30s and 40s for feeds. She hit a new high at 43mL since the antibiotic trouble began. There are still times when she out right refuses the bottle, but I am grateful that when she chooses to bottle the volume is increasing.

I took a few photos of them together after their baths tonight. They are so cute it hurts.

The last two days Lilah has been in the 20s-30s for feeds. This is a baby step but we will take it!

She is still spitting up, but most of the time it is no more then what Alec spits up. She occasionally has a big spit up that will drench everything. Those are a bit more scary for her.

Alec is doing great! Sleeping through the night and growing.

Rollin'

We were at Amplatz today so Lilah could get checked out by the NICU. While we were waiting for the doctor, Alec rolled over from his back to his tummy!

It is funny to me he would wait and have a milestone there, where he spent the first few months of life.

Lilah's check up went well. She is 10lbs 7oz and has a big head. Lots of brains.

Alec has also started sucking his thumb... I caught him:

Lilah could not get her thumb in her mouth so she just decided to lick it.
