70 days

Right around this this time (10am) 70 days ago I was admitted to the U of M hospital for pre-term labor.

Everyone always tells me that I did an amazing job keeping those kids in as long as I could and I always find myself a little embarrassed! The truth is that, although I was stuck on my side for weeks, Dave should be the one who gets the praise.

Over the last seventy days, Dave has had to get up early and watch someone he loves struggle with a challenge. One thing the past five weeks has taught me is that it is much more difficult to watch your loved ones struggle. Especially when you are powerless to help them other then cheer them on with encouragement.

This morning I almost convinced him to stay in bed since he heads back to work tomorrow. As I was getting ready to leave, he came into the living room and started getting his shoes on. When I asked him what had changed his mind, he said parental guilt... But I know it is really because he doesn't want to be away from the kids.

As I look forward to the new year the thought of two tiny babies at home makes me instantly nervous and then I look over to the scene below and know I am not alone. I am with the strongest person I know! Thank you Dave for being our rock the last 70 days and every day going forward. We love you!
